Helen’s singing voice was absolutely stunning and it was a joy to sing with her at school, in church and in Burton Youth Choir. I particularly remember her singing a solo in our choir’s performance of Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast - her interpretation of Onaway, Awake Beloved became the yardstick by which I’ve measured every other I’ve heard since - and nothing gives me the same shiver down the spine. Thank you Helen!

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
Extract from a poem by Henry Scott Holland
